Pumping

Frequently asked questions

1. How often should my tank be pumped?

Answer: The frequency of pumping depends on several factors:

  • Capacity of septic system
  • Amount of residents
  • Age of residents
  • Age and system type

We recommend letting our PSMA field techs, pump and give a recommendation

2. Is my tank full already?

Answer:  An average family of four will refill a 1000 tank within 4 days of being pumped. The operating level on a septic tank is approximately 6 inches from the top of the tank.

3. Septic Additives?

Answer: We DO NOT support the use of these, it is our opinion that pumping as recommended, along with the natural bacteria is the best way to maintain any septic system.

4. What NOT to flush?

Answer:

  • cigarette butts
  • disposable diapers
  • sanitary napkins & tampons
  • wipes
  • condoms
  • pop-off toilet wand scrubbers
